Good afternoon Annie! How has your day been so far?

Great, thanks. I’ve been talking to customers most of the day. That’s what I love to do. My role as a Sales Operations Executive is to be the link between customer and the Account Manager or Customer Service.

So when customers have a problem, they come to you?

Definitely, and they expect a quick reply too. Thankfully, I’ve got plenty of experience, so I know exactly what to do or who to contact. Speed is always of the essence. Recently, I received an email around 5 pm which I replied to the next morning. In the meantime, they thought I had fallen ill because it took so long. (laughs)

Is it true you’ve been working for Amadeus Benelux for more than 25 years?

A quarter century… Sounds absurd, right? The funny thing is; it’s a huge coincidence that I even started here. Originally I applied for a different company in the same building. When they went under, they forwarded my CV to Amadeus. In a couple of weeks, I attended two job interviews in the same building, for different companies.

What did Amadeus Benelux look like in 1992?

The Benelux office had opened a few years prior, so it still looked very much like a typical medium-sized business. There were four people manning the helpdesk, one accountant, a secretary and a couple of technical specialists. Our General Manager even did the sales himself!

After a while, structures started changing and – very gradually – Amadeus Benelux grew. Developing our own sales department definitely helped. Back then I was a Sales Executive, so I took it as a personal challenge. That’s where my love for dealing with customers comes from.

Is it hard to keep up with the Amadeus solutions?

Not at all, I think it’s much easier than starting from scratch. Sure, the front office changes, but the high level strategy stays the same, even if our industry evolves.

What else has changed at Amadeus Benelux over the last 25 years?

The working environment is different. I’ll give you an example: every 3 months now we have stress-relieving sessions. That includes massages, workshops, and other activities. Quite unimaginable 25 years ago.

The customers have stayed the same, tough. They want to help their own clients well, so we try to do the same.

Thank you Annie! Who would you like to celebrate Amadeus 30th anniversary with next time?

I think Evelyne Brauns is an excellent candidate. She’s been here for a while too and surely has her own vision.
